During my recent city trip to Northfield, I had the chance to stay at the Coratel Inn & Suites, conveniently located near St Olaf College. The front desk staff were genuinely helpful, making our check-in process seamless after our long journey from Auckland. One standout feature of the room was the ability to open the window for fresh air—a small detail, but one that made our stay much more comfortable. While my family appreciated the excellent coffee available, the breakfast selection was quite limited to bananas and packaged muffins, which left us wanting more. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of our room fell short, with signs of wear on the towels and lingering smells in the hallways. For those with mobility concerns, the absence of an elevator was a drawback, particularly since we were assigned a second-floor room. The Coratel Inn & Suites offered a good price and friendly service, but it lacked the level of cleanliness and amenities that I’d expect—even for a quick family getaway. It may be suitable for those who prioritize budget and location, but I’d recommend bringing your own comforts along for the ride.
